Welcome to SimplePress
Hosted storefronts and an admin dashboard for store owners—start here, then use the guides in the sidebar.
Welcome to SimplePress (SP)! We at the Center for Generative Justice / Artisanal Futures are so happy you opted into using the platform. In case you didn’t know, SimplePress is our stripped down version of Shopify. We wanted to provide small business owners who don’t need all the bells and whistles to get set up online fast.
Super Important
Please know that this free to use platform is still in development. We at the Center for Generative Justice / Artisanal Futures operate with a very small development team (pretty much just me :D). By using SimplePress, you acknowledge our terms and conditions. Your feedback shapes the platform and can benefit other business owners using SP. We will do our absolute best to resolve any issues in a timely manner. Any feature requests, cosmetic adjustments, and low risk issues will be triaged based on our current work load with all of our clients and ongoing projects. Please contact me at ahunn@umich.edu for any questions. I do my best to respond within 24 hours, but if I don’t, please send a follow up email. Thanks for your understanding and for your assistance in making SimplePress the greatest resource for small business owners!

Getting started
Onboarding, subdomain, verification, Stripe, and the welcome checklist.
Storefront & branding
Templates, logo, colors, navigation, and how customers experience your shop.
Changelog
What changed in the docs and notable product milestones.
Planned features
A rough, non-binding roadmap of what we are building or exploring next.
Admin vs storefront
- Admin (
/admin): where you configure products, orders, customers, discounts, content, and store settings. - Storefront: the public site shoppers visit—the template, branding, and content you configure in admin.
How to use these docs
Topics follow a practical order: onboarding and the Dashboard, then Storefront and commerce features, then Settings, and finally Your account & security. Use the sidebar to move sequentially or jump to any page. Use search when you know the task (for example “tax” or “domain”) but not which section it lives in.
